About CIFAS

The Comitas Institute for Anthropological Study (CIFAS) is a preeminent institution located at Teachers College, Columbia University for the promotion and collaboration of anthropological study in a variety of topics, including, but not limited to: Caribbean perspectives on environmental and technological crisis as well as regional approaches to long-term conflicts. CIFAS also holds copyright to a large number of photographic, video, and bibliographic materials that are available by request, and in limited quantities online at the website.

This website contains a search engine to facilitate research, and is particularly recommended for news research, an area where the volume of available material is great. Most articles included on this site are PDF files that require the Adobe Acrobat reader software, which can be downloaded without fee. Incompleteness is an unavoidable characteristic of an enterprise of this nature.
